An Evening in Yiddishland

Join us at the Sixth Street Community Synagogue for An Evening in Yiddishland, a special celebration of As the Story Goes: Funny, Strange, and Serious Stories of Yiddishland’s Jews, compiled by Mordekhai Lipson and newly translated and edited by Dr. Jonathan Boyarin and Jonah Sampson Boyarin. This father-and-son translation team will be in conversation about the art of preserving Yiddish humor, memory, and voice for a new generation, exploring how these vivid tales capture the spirit of a vanished world and the lives that still echo from it.
The event will take place on Thursday, November 6th at 7:00 PM at the synagogue (325 East 6th Street, NYC). A wine and cheese reception will follow. The event is free and open to all, but we encourage you to register in advance on our website.
We are grateful to the Boyarins for honoring us with their sweetness and scholarship and to the Stanton Street Shul for co-sponsoring this event.
