The unfolding health crisis has caused many much concern and a sense of confusion, experiences undoubtedly exacerbated by our being separated from each other and our synagogue. We pray for swift resolution and healing.
All services and classes at Sixth Street Community Synagogue are suspended. The building is closed.
Thank you for partnering with us as we diligently follow the advice of our medical professionals and the laws of our officials, as we demonstrate to God that we value life above all.
Despite this social distancing, it is our intention to replicate as much of the Sixth Street experience as possible. It is very important to me that we look after each other and continue to maintain and even build our community, remotely. This means calling each other, reaching out on social media, and making sure that our friends and neighbors are adequately supported. Ownership of the Hametz that Rabbi Bellino sold has reverted back to its original owners.
After Passover we are forbidden to eat any Hametz that we know was owned by an observant Jew during Passover as a penalty for not destroying/selling it. This is a Rabbinic decree and therefore if one is unsure of the status of Hametz after Passover, it is permitted without extensive research. Therefore, all stores, groceries, supermarkets, convenience stores, and the like are automatically permitted immediately after the holiday.
2019 Tax Letter: You may have received a tax letter from us listing all of your 2019 tax-deductible contributions to the synagogue. If you have any questions about the statement, or feel that some contributions were not listed, please contact us at 212-473-3665, or email us.

Classes
Our classes are being held on Zoom. For those of you who do not know, Zoom is a remote conferencing service that facilitates meetings online, by video and by phone. A useful instructional video may be found here. We strongly encourage you to download the free app to your phones and/or computers and then click the meeting links that we provide. If you do not have the technology to participate over the Internet, you may simply dial in. We will provide the links and numbers in a separate email as well as PDFs of any relevant class material. JEWISH ARTS SALON - ARTISTS' BEIT MIDRASH: Pardes is the Talmudic story of the search for mystical revelation. We will explore these Talmudic tales, mystical literature (Hekhalot) and other narratives of Divine encounters. Tuesdays, 7:00-9:00 PM. Zoom links will be sent next week.
FOUNDATIONS OF JUDAISM: A sensitive and sophisticated introduction to Judaism, intended for beginners, and focusing on many of the ritual, legal, linguistic, and philosophical basics of our faith. Wednesdays 6:30-8:00 PM. Zoom links will be sent next week.
PIRKEI AVOT - Pirkei Avot: Rabbi Bellino will teach Pirkei Avot on Monday and Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM. He will begin this Monday night. Zoom links to follow.
