Greetings Friends,
I am very much looking forward to arrival of our scholar-in-residence. Dr. Michal Bar-Asher Siegal is a first-rate teacher and researcher of Rabbinic Judaism. Her work focuses on Jewish-Christian interactions in the ancient world and she is as entertaining as she is encyclopedic.
There are various opportunities to meet and learn from her.
- Thursday Night Book Talk and Reception - Dr. Bar-Asher Siegal has recently published Jewish-Christian Dialogues on Scripture in Late Antiquity: Heretic Narratives of the Babylonian Talmud (Cambridge University Press, 2019). Her presentation will be immediately followed with a wine/beer and cheese reception. Please RSVP.
- Community Friday Night Dinner and Lecture - Please join us on Friday night for a delicious and fun Shabbat Dinner, followed by a presentation on Rabbinic interactions with Christian scholars during the early Talmudic era. Friday night services will begin at 4:30 PM and dinner has been called for 6:00 PM. You may register for dinner here.
- Shabbat Day - Dr. Bar-Asher Siegal will deliver the sermon on Rabbinic Life Lessons from Parashat Vayechi at 10:30 AM. She will be available for a Q & A discussion at Seudah Shelishit (4:30 PM).
