This morning we buried our friend, Eric Johnson (אהרן שמחה בן אברהם). Eric was a gentle, thoughtful, and kind person who will be deeply missed.

If you are considering making a donation in Eric's memory, we recommend that you support one (or all) of those causes/institutions that were important to him.

There were very many of them, but here are several:

  • Our Synagogue. One of Eric's two downtown shuls.
  • Knock Knock Give a Sock. KKGS brings communities together in order to help those who are experiencing homelessness. Their motto is Help your neighbor, Meet your neighbor, Know your neighbor. In addition to providing needed resources by collecting socks, they encourage personal and meaningful interactions with the homeless.
  • The Stanton Street Shul. Eric's other downtown shul.
  • Lincoln Square Synagogue. Eric's uptown shul.
  • The Manhattan Eruv. This is how Eric was able to carry Scotch on Shabbat. You can make the donation to the Eruv here. Rabbi Bellino will forward the amount any note you include.
  • NJOP.  The Torah organization where Eric studied and flourished.

May Eric's soul be bound in the bonds of life
and may his memory be a blessing.
