Once a quiet conclusion to Sukkot focused on circling the altar with willows, Hoshana Rabbah evolved into a symbolic “final seal” of judgment, echoing Yom Kippur’s themes of divine decree. Over time, mystical and liturgical traditions recast it as a day when heaven’s verdicts are confirmed, transforming its tone from harvest celebration to spiritual reckoning.
It's basically weekday, Sukkot, Rosh Hashana, and Yom Kippur davening with of course some willow beating. All in 90 minutes.
Hoshana Rabba services begin at 8:00 AM tomorrow (Monday).
