In two weeks, on Shabbat Vayishlach, December 13-14, we will welcome as our Shabbat Scholar-in-Residence, Dr. Benny Brown, a lecturer in the Department of Jewish Thought at Hebrew University, a researcher at the Israel Democracy Institute, and one of today's leading scholars of contemporary Orthodox thought and ideology, especially Ultra-Orthodoxy.
Please join us on Friday night for a delicious and social Community Shabbat Dinner, and join us as well over Shabbat for a series of presentations and discussions on a variety of topics including contemporary ideologies of Chanukah and modern Ultra-Orthodoxy.
Reservations for the Friday night dinner should be made by Tuesday, December 10th.

This Shabbaton includes:
- Mincha/Kabbalat Shabbat at 4:10 PM
- Friday night dinner in shul at 5:45 PM (RSVP and payment required)
- Lecture at 7:30 PM (free – all are welcome)
- Shabbat morning sermon at 10:30 AM
- Q & A discussion at Seudah Shelishit at 4:15 PM

Dr. Benny Brown
Dr. Benjamin Brown is an Israeli professor, researcher of Jewish thought, a lecturer at the Department of Jewish thought at Hebrew University and a researcher at the Israel Democracy Institute. Dr. Brown is known for his studies on Orthodox Judaism, especially the ultra-Orthodox community, from the theological, Jewish-legal and historical perspectives. Among other topics, he was the first to trace the development of the concept Daas Torah and its various usages in the haredi (ultra-Orthodox) world. In addition, he published many papers about Halakhah, the Musar movement and the Hasidic movement.
