Tot Shabbat will resume more formally in January and aims to inspire and entertain children ages zero to six. Tot Shabbat meets in the Beit Midrash from 10:15-11:00 and is followed by the Kommunity Kinder Kiddush Klub. Expect Shabbat songs, games, and all cuteness. We are grateful to the Aingorn Family for their attention to this important part of Sixth Street's functioning.

Please support the Downtown Eruv! The downtown community's financial Eruv obligation is roughly $36k annually. How much to give is certainly up to you, and any donation is appreciated. To give you some context: If 200 families/individuals were to give $180, this year's fundraising effort would be over. To make a payment, please do so on the synagogue page, Venmo @sixthstreetsynagogue, or send a check to: Community Synagogue Center, 325 East Sixth Street, New York NY 10003. Be sure to specify that this donation is for the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund and/or for the Eruv. The Eruv allows us to push our strollers to synagogue, carry the keys to our homes, and bring treats to our friends' homes on Shabbat. If you like babies, a sense of security, or good guests, make a donation now!

Please consider participating in our Kol Nidrei Campaign. Your support is essential - not only for our continued success - but to help us in our much needed re-building. I remind you that any amount helps our efforts and lifts our spirits.

We are grateful to our cantors, Meir Shapiro and Neil Kitainik for their beautiful and perfectly-timed davening. They skillfully and precisely moved text along as they moved us, inspiring us with beautiful and thoughtful moments of prayer and song.

We also thank Neil Kitainik for his Torah reading, Choni Bellino and Elie Yudewitz for their ushering and gabbaing, (also) Choni and Keshet Bellino for their help in setting up the sanctuary, Chaski Naor for sponsoring the breakfast, and Romano and his staff for their hard work in preparing and maintaining our building.

Adina Lichtman's leadership and energy were particularly inspiring. Yesterday over 150 sandwiches were prepared and distributed to our less-fortunate neighbors. Her devotion to the greater community is unparalleled. This tzedaka campaign was funded by your "Cruelty-Free Kapparot" donations and the surplus was sent to Adina's not-for-profit, Knock Knock Give a Sock. Post-Yom-Kippur Gratitude

10/06/2022 11:26:37 AM

Greetings Friends,

Thank You. This year's Yom Kippur - to my memory - was the best one yet. We welcomed more than 400 people over the course of the day and services were especially beautiful.

I am grateful to our cantors, Meir Shapiro and Neil Kitainik for their beautiful and perfectly-timed davening. They skillfully and precisely moved text along as they moved us, inspiring us with beautiful and thoughtful moments of prayer and song.

I also thank Neil Kitainik for his Torah reading, Choni Bellino and Elie Yudewitz for their ushering and gabbaing, (also) Choni and Keshet Bellino for their help in setting up the sanctuary, and Romano and his staff for their hard work in preparing and maintaining our building.

Please consider helping her to continue and expand her important altruistic vision.

At Kol Nidrei - I spoke about the synagogue that we choose and devotedly attend and improve. If my vision spoke to you, if you have benefited from it, or if you would like to see it enlarged further, please consider participating in our Kol Nidrei Campaign. Your support is essential - not only for our continued success - but to help us in our much needed re-building. I remind you that any amount helps my efforts and lifts my spirits.

Thank you for your continued interest and support. I wish you continued good health and a joyful holiday season,

Gavriel Bellino

Kol Nidrei Campaign

Dear Friends,

I hope that you are all well and hydrating this Erev Yom Kippur. Here's the short version of my appeal: I need your help to rebuild this unique synagogue. Click here to participate in the Kol Nidrei Appeal and then go back to your water bottles.

If you need more convincing, here goes the longer version: Despite another chaotic and unpredictable year, the Sixth Street Community Synagogue is still very much a locus of thoughtful and fun Modern Orthodox Judaism. This year has included several essential and aesthetic improvements to our 175 year old building. Classes are accessible and thoughtful. Davening is beautiful and efficient. Kiddush is actually delicious, and the beer is well curated.

But like every other institution, the synagogue requires your help to return to its pre-COVID level of functioning. The building needs more protection and care, additional professional roles must be developed, and services and events that attract a broad audience must be offered. The synagogue must - not only return to - but exceed its former glory.

As you know, this project of Teshuva - the return to our higher selves and to God - requires that we re-evaluate, re-prioritize, and then re-affirm our commitment to those things that truly matter. I hope that our synagogue is on your list and that you are able to partner with me in its great revitalization and success.

I am grateful to you for your support,

You can click here to participate in the Kol Nidrei Appeal.

Hydrate. Gmar Tov,

Gavriel Bellino, Rabbi
