Welcome to Our New Yoetzet Shifra Freidman!

| Date Added |
We are thrilled to announce the hiring of Shifra Friedman as the new Yoetzet Halacha for our Sixth Street community.
Yoatzot Halacha are women who serve as a resource regarding Taharat Hamishpacha (the area of Jewish Law that relates to marriage, sexuality, ritual immersion, and women's health). Yoatzot Halacha are trained and certified by Nishmat and a panel of Orthodox rabbis. This position was initiated for women who might be more comfortable discussing sensitive issues with female religious advisors.
Yoetzet Shifra is available to answer questions related to Taharat Hamishpacha and may be reached by phone at (646) 598-1080 and by email at nycyoetzet@gmail.com.
Shiffy Friedman graduated from Nishmat’s Miriam Glaubach Center’s U.S. Yoatzot Halacha Fellows Program in 2015. She has been counseling women in the area of women's health and halacha, both through her role as Yoetzet Halacha in Westchester County and through teaching brides and couples before marriage. Shiffy has taught at SAR Academy and currently teaches at Ma'ayanot Yeshiva High School. She received her B.A. in Judaic studies from Stern College and a dual M.A. in Education and Jewish Studies from New York University. Prior to that, she spent a year studying in Israel at the Stella K. Abraham Beit Midrash for Women in Migdal Oz. She and her husband, Rabbi Noam Friedman, live with their two children, Avital and Adir, in Morningside Heights, where they serve as the OU-JLIC couple at Columbia/Barnard Hillel. They look forward to getting to know members of the broader Manhattan community.
For individual sponsorship opportunities, please contact Rabbi Bellino.

The High Holy Day season is a time of repentance and atonement, contemplation and prayer. One of the strongest emotional moments that we experience this period, and especially on Yom Kippur, is the recalling of the memory of those loved ones who have meant so much to us and have gone on to eternal life.
To enhance the Yizkor Service, our synagogue will again assemble our own Book of Remembrance. This is an opportunity for us all to remember those people (relatives, friends, teachers, etc.) who greatly impacted our lives. To view last year's book, click here.
The booklet will contain:
1. The complete Yizkor Service and assorted readings and psalms
2. Your sponsored pages, half-pages, quarter pages and/or entry listings of those that you chose to honor and remember
3. A message from Rabbi Bellino
We urge all our members and friends to take part in our Book of Remembrance.
The final date of submission for all entries must be no later than September 17, 2017.
Please submit (English/Hebrew) names, relation, and yahretzeit dates. For full, half and quarter page entries, please consider adding a brief statement.
FULL PAGE…………………$180
HALF PAGE…………………$ 108
QUARTER PAGE……………$ 54
LISTING (EACH ENTRY)……$ 10
If you wish to make the same dedication as last year, please let us know.
Please send all entries and any questions to info@sixthstreetsynagogue.org
We thank you in advance for your participation in this meaningful project.
