News
In these tragic and scary times we stand with Israel and all those victimized by senseless hatred and fanaticism. We pray for safety, healing, and peace.
We are grateful to Shimmy Rapps who has sponsored this week's Friday night Kiddush in observance of the Yahretzeit of his father, יוסף חיים בן יהושע ע"ה.
We are grateful to the more than 300 people who joined us last Shabbat in welcoming Rabbi Lord Jonathan and Lady Elaine Sacks and to the Lebewohl Family for sponsoring such a magnificent kiddush.
We are now on Summer Schedule. Mincha/Kabbalat Shabbat will be at 7:00 PM (with the exception of Pesach) until September 16. Join us for services and be rewarded with food, drink, song and words of Torah.
Our plentiful and delicious Kiddushes on Sixth Street greatly enhance our synagogue and community. To sponsor or co-sponsor a Friday night Kiddush, a Shabbat Kiddush, a Shabbocktail, our Shabbeer supply, or a Seudah Shelishit, contact Rabbi Bellino. The next available kiddush for sponsorship is April 9th.

THOUGHT OF NACHMANIDES: A weekly class focusing on the thought of Rabbi Moses ben Nachman. Rabbi Bellino will teach the more essential commentaries on that week’s parsha and will contextualize the Ramban’s remarks within the greater contexts of parshanut and philosophy. Wednesdays 8:00-9:15 PM This week: Leprosy

JEWISH POETIC LITURGY: Rabbi Bellino will present ancient, medieval, and early-modern religious poetry. Special attention will be paid the Biblibal, Talmudic, Midrashic, and often Kabbalist references contained therein. Shabbat, Seudah Shelishit. This week: Shabbat HaMalkah of Hayyim Nahman Bialik.

Events

Join us for the third and final installment of One People: A Film Series in Three Parts as we view "The Mystery of San Nicandro" on Monday, April 11 at 7:30 PM. A group of Italian Roman Catholics in a small village underwent a mass conversion to Judaism in Fascist Italy, observing Jewish practices for 20 years, and emigrated to Israel in 1949. After years of believing in another faith how do ordinary people give themselves over to a new way of worshiping? How did their mentor, a crippled cobbler from San Nicandro, change the lives of hundreds of people?

Pizza and beer will be served prior to the screening at 7:00 PM. RSVP by Friday, April 8.

Shabbat HaGadol Drasha: Rabbi Bellino will deliver his tenth sermon for Shabbat HaGadol on Saturday, April 16th, at 6:40 PM. This year's topic: The History, Halacha, and Symbolism of the Seder Plate.

Save the Date: Lager BaOmer on the evening of May 25th. This event will be a great time for all craft beer enthusiasts and students of Beer Yochai.
