Community News

In these tragic and scary times we stand with Israel and all those victimized by senseless hatred and fanaticism. We pray for safety, healing, and peace.

We wish a Mazal Tov to Alexia & Harris Marks upon the Pidyon of their son, Elijah Jonah.

We wish a Mazal Tov to our friends, Aliza & Rabbi Gideon Black, upon the birth and naming of their daughter, Maya Freeda.

We offer Blessings of Consolation to David Landis, upon the passing of his sister, Florence Lynn Landis. David will sit shiva in Houston starting on Monday and may be reached via e-mail.

Friday night services are at 5:30 PM. Please help us to ensure that our service begins on time. Expect to be rewarded with snacks, drinks, as well as some Torah study and song. This week's Dvar Torah will be presented by Elie Yudewitz.

We are grateful to Alan Feder who will read Torah this Shabbat.

We are grateful to an anonymous donor who further improved our Shabeer Supply.

CholentFest III - The Search for Crock was a great success. We congratulate Maurice Goldstein and Marc Zegen (The Meatiest Cholent), winners of the Eydel Ladle. People's Choice winner, Alan Schwartz (Vitameatavegamin). Non-Traditional Cholent winners, Ke$het & Gavriel Bellino (Cholent Deconstructed). We are grateful to our judges (David Hammer, Julia Salant, and Tzachi Goldstein), to the 14 chefs who participated, to the more than 150 cholent tasters, and most of all, to Eli Szus who conceived of and organized the event.

Our plentiful and delicious Kiddushes on Sixth Street greatly enhance our synagogue and community. To sponsor or co-sponsor a Friday night Kiddush, a Shabbat Kiddush, a Shabbocktail, our Shabbeer supply, or a Seudah Shelishit, contact Rabbi Bellino. The next available kiddush is March 19th.

We are looking for additional support staff. Do you know someone with strong computer and organizational skills who can work 15-20 hours a week? Contact info@sixthstreetsynagogue.org.
