Community News

In these tragic and scary times we stand with Israel and all those victimized by senseless hatred and fanaticism. We pray for safety, healing, and peace. Please join us at all of our services for our recitations of additional Psalms.

We wish a Mazal Tov to Liz & Alexander Taub on the birth of their daughter, Keira Pearl (יקירה רות).

We wish a Mazal Tov to Drs. Aleza Androna & David Stromberg on their upcoming wedding.

This Shabbat we are proud to welcome Drs. Tammy Jacobowitz and Ronnie Perelis as our surprise Shabbat scholars. Tammy is a member of the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America faculty and a Judaic Studies teacher at SAR High School. Ronnie is  a Professor of Sephardic Studies at the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies of Yeshiva University. Tammy will deliver the sermon, "With Eyes on God" and Ronnie will teach "A Tale of Two Doves: Love and Longing in Al-Andalus" during Seuda Shelishit.

We are grateful to Eli Szus who will read his Bar Mitzva Parsha this Shabbat.

Friday night services are super early. (This week at 4:20 PM). Please help us to ensure that our service begins on time. Expect to be rewarded with snacks, drinks, as well as some Torah study and song. This week we look forward to the Torah of Dr. Ronnie Perelis.

We are excited to upgrade our Siddur collection with the addition of 150 Koren Siddurim. These prayer books are available for sponsorship at the reduced rate of $25 per book. As of Thursday evening 131 siddurim have been sponsored by 44 individuals and families. Please email  Rabbi Bellino with your requests, dedications, and questions.

Kiddushes on Sixth Street - always plentiful and delicious - greatly enhance our synagogue and community. January 9th is the next Kiddush available for sponsorship. To sponsor or co-sponsor a Friday night Kiddush, a Shabbat Kiddush, a Shabbocktail, or a Seudah Shelishit, contact Rabbi Bellino.
