Please join us this Saturday night (June 11th) for a Shavuot Tisch featuring a light dinner, song, and Torah. This event will begin at 9:30 PM and dairy will be served. Although the event is free, we ask that you register so that we may adequately prepare. Better yet, your sponsorship of this event would be greatly appreciated.
While we eat, Rabbi Bellino will teach about Classical Approaches to Conversion in preparation for his appearance at the 14th Street Y later that evening at 11:00 PM (see below).
Rethinking Ruth: Reform, Conservative & Orthodox Rabbis Discuss Contemporary Challenges for Conversion and Inclusion. In Biblical times, a simple declaration seems to have been all it took to join the Jewish People, as expressed in the Book of Ruth. Today, things aren't so simple. Join Rabbis Gavriel Bellino, Shira Koch Epstein, and Amichai Lau-Lavie for an open discussion on conversion, inclusion and intermarriage from Orthodox, Reform, and Conservative approaches.
