News
Micro Minyan is a big hit! We are grateful to Tali Zilberman for leading and organizing this facet of our children's programming. The next Micro Minyan will be held on January 16th. Micro Minyan begins at 10:30 AM and generally meets on alternating Shabbatot. There will be a Kommunity Kinder Kiddush Klub immediately following.
Our Tanakh Yomi students are studying Isaiah. Even if you skipped II Kings (basically, a whirlwind of collapsing kingdoms, clueless monarchs, fiery prophets, foreign invasions, and one long, slow-motion reminder that ignoring every warning ever given is an excellent way to lose your throne, your Temple, and your national dignity), please consider learning Isaiah with us. To enhance your study and/or keep things straight, I have prepared the following resources that can also be found on our Tanakh Yomi page.
Isaiah: Brief Outline - Detailed Outline - Key Figures - Key Places
The Three Worlds (Books) of Isaiah
Isaiah is a sweeping prophetic mixtape where fiery warnings, visionary poetry, and cosmic hope collide as the prophet tells kings, empires, and pretty much everyone on earth to stop being terrible, trust God, and get ready for both judgment and redemption on an epic, universe-level scale. It's 66 chapters long, so we are going to be at this for a while. See the schedule for more information.
The Tuesday Night Genesis Rabbah Class will resume on 1/6 and the Wednesday Night Foundations Classes will resume on 1/7.
Save the Date: CholentFest XII - The Bat Mitzvah on February 7th.
Israel in our Hearts
Please continue to you support each other. While this sort of peril and loss, as well as the emotional responses they engender, aren’t new to our national history, they are - in fact - new to most of us. Remember that we all come to the (kiddush) table with different psychological skill sets and traumas. Look out for one another, check in, and be flexible to, and understanding of, the broad spectrum that is the emotional health of others. We ask that when you speak to each other, you be mindful of potentially inflammatory language and gruesome content; particularly in the presence of children.
Find comfort in community as we process the daily horrors and pray for safety, peace, and consolation.
Membership has almost no privileges.
But it's the right thing to do and it allows us to thrive. Won’t you please share in our great legacy and help us continue our impressive revitalization? There are, of course, various membership options and we hope that one works for you.
