Dear Members and Friends:
A magnificent Yom Kippur has just ended on Sixth Street. We are grateful to those who made it so meaningful and memorable, especially to our chazzanim, our gabbaim, and of course to the over 400 people that were in attendance.
Wherever you were, you undoubtedly appealed for God to grant you, and all of Israel, a better year than the last. You have also resolved to live a better year than the last. We, the leadership of the Sixth Street Community Synagogue, have extended the prayers and resolutions of our personal lives to the life of our beloved synagogue. We appeal to you for your assistance as we we resolve to continue our important work.
Last year the synagogue continued to experience significant improvement and renewal. Membership increased, interest skyrocketed, the breadth of the programming that we provided (not just Kiddush) was greater and more diverse, and important structural and aesthetic improvements to the building were made. We have emerged as an important and powerful force in downtown Judaism. Clearly, our synagogue has had a great year.
But its fate has not yet been sealed. The success of this project will require, not only Divine intervention, but also your participation and financial support. We depend on each one of you so that we can continue to provide the same caliber of service and improvement during the coming year.
Membership dues and targeted fundraising cover only a portion of our operating expenses, and so we rely on the annual Yom Kippur appeal to help make up the difference. Won’t you please resolve to assist us in our resolutions?
You may send checks to 325 East 6th Street, New York, NY 10003.
You can also donate online.
We wish you all a happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year.
Sincerely,
Gavriel Bellino, Rabbi
