Community News

In these tragic and scary times we stand with Israel, France, and all those victimized by senseless hatred and fanaticism. We pray for safety, healing, and peace. Please join us at all of our services for our recitations of additional Psalms.

We wish a Mazal Tov to the Lebewohl and Rosenthal Families upon the birth and brit of Henry Abraham (חיים אברהם) Lebewohl, son of Cara & Josh Lebewohl.

We thank our friend, Dr. Elissa Sampson, for presenting "A History of the Sixth Street Synagogue" on Monday. She taught us plenty of little-known facts about our synagogue and the neighborhood. Stay tuned for our next installment of the Monday Night Lecture Series.

Friday night davening is super early. (This week at 4:20 PM). Please help us to ensure that our service begins on time. Expect to be rewarded with snacks, drinks, as well as some Torah study and song.

Kiddushes on Sixth Street - always plentiful and delicious - greatly enhance our synagogue and community. The next available Kiddush for sponsorship is January 9th, Parashat Vaera. To sponsor or co-sponsor a Friday night Kiddush, a Shabbat Kiddush, a Shabbocktail, or a Seudah Shelishit, contact Rabbi Bellino.

Next week: Joseph's Immaturity

MIRIAM KAPLAN ON THE PRAYERS OF DAVID, SOLOMON, DANIEL, EZRA, and NEHEMIAH. Shabbat, Following Kiddush.

JEWISH POETIC LITURGY: Rabbi Bellino will present ancient, medieval, and early-modern religious poetry. Special attention will be paid the Biblibal, Talmudic, Midrashic, and often Kabbalist references contained therein. Shabbat, Seudah Shelishit
