Community News

We wish a Refua Shelaima to our friend, Murray Nussbaum, husband of Risa Gerstein, who is in the hospital. Please keep Murray -- Moshe ben Rachel -- in your prayers.

Rabbi Bellino's class in Avot d'Rabbi Natan continues this week. This text is a commentary and elaboration on Pirkei Avot that was compiled during the Geonic Period. This late Midrash provides explanations of most of the aphorisms of Avot, as well as hagiography on the lives of many of the sages quoted. Class meets on Shabbat, one hour before Mincha. All source sheets (including Rabbi Bellino's notes) may be downloaded here.

For those of you planning on spending Shabbat afternoon in synagogue (Avot d'Rabbi Natan, Mincha, Seudah Shelishit)... Please consider bringing non-leather shoes and any other Tisha b'Av related belongings before Shabbat begins.

Tisha b'Av 5775: Please join us for a full day of Tisha b'Av related observance. Although the fast begins at sunset (8:18 PM), Tisha b'Av services will begin some 20 minutes after the conclusion of Shabbat. Join us on Saturday night in our Social Hall for Ma'ariv, Eicha, and selected Kinot beginning at 9:30 PM. Join us on Sunday for a collaboration with the Stanton Street Synagogue. Click here for Rabbi Bellino's fasting tips.
