Shabbat Scholar in Residence, May 15-16: We are pleased to announce that Rabbi Simcha Krauss, presiding arbitrator of the International Beit Din, will join us this week as our third Shabbat Scholar of 5775. See the schedule of events. Rabbi Krauss will speak following dinner on Friday Night, will deliver the sermon on Shabbat morning, and Shabbat afternoon at 6:30 PM. Our Scholar in Residence Shabbatonim are sponsored by a generous bequest made by Garry Roemer.

Israel Awareness Committee: A new committee, co-chaired by Jeff Katz and Annie Watman, has been created to strengthen our synagogue's identification with the State of Israel's culture, people, challenges, and history. There will be a bi-monthly Israel Awareness Reading Group, meeting for the first time toward the end of this month. The first book will be "Menachem Begin: The Battle for Israel's Soul" by Daniel Gordis. To get involved, please email jeff.katz48@gmail.com.

Events

Shavuot immediately follows Shabbat next week.

Shavuot Dinner and Late Night Torah Study: Please join us next Saturday night, May 23rd for a dairy dinner at 9:15 PM in the Social Hall, which will follow an 8:40 PM Maariv.

Following dinner, Rabbi Bellino will teach until midnight. Dinner costs $35 per adult. Please RSVP here. Later that night, (at 12:45 AM), Rabbi Bellino will teach at the 14th Street Y. For more information, or to register for this event, click here

Shavuot Women's Wine and Cheese Event: .On the first day of Shavuot, Sunday, May 24 at 4:00 PM, there will be a Women's Wine and Cheese Event in the Social Hall. Bring your own wine/spirits and your thirst for a great time with friends and neighbors.

Annual Dinner: Save the Date! On Monday, June 22nd, we will hold our Annual Dinner at the Brotherhood Synagogue. Expect much more information shortly.

Foundations will meet on Wednesday, May 20 at 6:30 PM for Hebrew reading and continue at 7:00 PM. Thought of Maimonides will meet at 8:00 PM. Course materials may be downloaded from our website.
