News

In these tragic and scary times we stand with all those victimized by senseless hatred and fanaticism, at home, in Israel, and abroad. We pray for safety, healing, and peace.

We wish a Mazal Tov to Dylan Foler upon his Bar Mitzvah. We welcome his family and friends that are here to honor and celebrate him.

We wish a continued Mazal Tov to Dr. Meredith Grossman & David Blackston, upon the birth, Brit, and naming of their son, Elijah (אליחי).

We offer Blessings of Condolence to our friend, Mendel Kaplan, on the loss of his father, Aryeh Tzvi Kaplan.

We are very grateful to Professor Samuel Fleischacker for his enlightening presentations on Judaism and Humanism as our Scholar-in-Residence this past Shabbat.

This past Wednesday we welcomed the Lower East Side Preservation Initiative to tour our synagogue. We are grateful to Dr. Elissa Sampson for her presentation on the building's rich 170 year history.

All members in good standing are invited to attend the annual meeting of our membership, which will take place on Monday, June 26, 2017, at 7:00 PM. The membership period started on June 1st, 2017, and may be paid for online or by check. During the meeting, we will elect new officers and members of the Board of Trustees and the Advisory Board. Please take note of the relevant election documents below.

Should you have any questions, please contact our treasurer, Alan Schwartz, or our Rabbi.  We invite all members in good standing to attend our annual membership meeting and election of officers, which will be held in the synagogue on June 26th, 2017.

This month, we welcome Yachad, an organization dedicated to addressing the needs of all Jewish individuals with disabilities. Yachad will use our space to run a self-advocacy group for its members.

We are expanding our library and are looking for sponsors to help us buy volumes of the new Artscroll Midrash Rabbah. Sponsorships are $54 a volume. If you are interested, please contact the synagogue office or Rabbi Bellino. Be sure to include your dedication information.

Help us hire the perfect youth leader to run a Bi-weekly (every other) Shabbat morning program for children ages 2-5. This is a paid position; experience with children/education is a plus. This is a unique leadership opportunity to create, develop, and maintain a children's program through working with community leadership. Please email us any recommendations.

Please continue to assist our weekday morning Minyan. Consider increasing your commitment to community and synagogue by attending.

Our plentiful and delicious Kiddushes on Sixth Street greatly enhance our synagogue and community. To sponsor or to co-sponsor a Friday night Kiddush, a Shabbat Kiddush, a Shabbocktail, our Shabbat Shabeer supply, or a Seudah Shelishit, contact Rabbi Bellino. The next available Kiddush for sponsorship is July 1st (Chukat).
